 |
Dear colleagues,
For many years we are committed
to providing a happy working environment where
staff can excel, both personally and professionally.
We care about meeting not only our shareholders
and customers' expectations, but also the needs
of our employees and society as a whole.
To achieve this, we have set
up the Communication Ambassador Committee to facilitate
internal communication, with SHKL getting started
first and with others following suit later on.
We realize that communication plays a crucial
role for good management-employee relations. |
|
To ensure staff opinions can reach
through the top management, myself therefore will chair
the committee and listen to the opinions collected by
the Communication Ambassadors through regular meetings.
This setting has created an official channel to allow
a two-way communication between Company and staff, help
employees develop a sense of ownership and promote a
culture of expression of opinions within the organization.
In addition, we are also sensitive
to the well being of our society around us. During the
Sichuan Earthquake, I am pleased to see that Corporate
and employees have been part of the relief tasks in
various forms such as prayer groups and fundraising
campaign. As a Socially Responsible Corporate, we encourage
all of you continuously getting involved in the social
services and community activities in the future.
With Warmest Regards,
Klaus Festl |

MSE changed
to a new company name
In 1972 Macrotron was founded as a distribution
company based in Munich. In 1998, Macrotron AG was acquired
by Ingram Micro with all rights of the Macrotron AG. When
in 2003 SEGL acquired Macrotron and our name became Macrotron
Scientific Engineering GmbH we realized, that Ingram Micro
was still the owner of the name Macrotron and we had to pay
royalties to Ingram Micro. To avoid this we had to look for
a new name. So, first we had to think about a new name and
then we had to check, if we are allowed to use this name in
all parts of Europe. It took weeks until we got the confirmation
that “MacroSolutions Europe GmbH” is OK to be used.
In the past, as Macrotron, we had in our CI brochure the slogan
“ Looking for Equipment” and in the future we will use the
slogan “ Looking for Solutions” and not just equipment. So,
we have evolved to a Solutions provider for our valuable customers.
Below you find our new logo:

SHKL
launches new divisions |
|
SHKL recently
has set up two new divisions - Fashion Technologies (RFID)
and Competence Centre, to better define and focus the business.
Including these two new bloods, the company is now running
in 4 divisions covering RFID, Auto-ID and Wireless technologies
(see chart). Two new divisions will be headquartered in Hong
Kong.
Matthew Man, General Manager,
will head the Fashion Technologies (RFID) division, looking
specifically at adopting RFID technology in fashion industry.
“We have identified there is a huge opportunity to promote
RFID technology in fashion retail. In the past, RFID was only
limited to back office control such as inventory and supply
chain management. However, our new technology now is able
to bring a completely new and unique shopping experience to
shoppers, facilitating up selling and cross selling at frontline.
This application I would say is a significant breakthrough
in fashion industry. In addition, we tailor total supply chain
solutions for every customer, helping them develop their own
retail strategies from manufacturing, retail to after sales.
This one-stop shop is first of its kind in the industry”,
said Matthew.
Warwick So, General Manager
of Competence Centre says: “We recognized finding the synergy
built between the divisions is very important for a company
to maintain its competitive advantage in the market. This
division will facilitate adoption of cutting edge technologies
and nurturing expertise, as being a proof of concept centre.
We strive to put together our know-how and resources to take
hold on new business opportunities and to put forth the innovation.
We will also look at opportunities to form alliances with
business partners to inject new technologies and widen our
pallet of products of the existing one.” |

Our response
to Sichuan Earthquake
The devastating Sichuan Earthquake has left more than
86,000 dead or missing, thousands orphaned, and millions
homeless. The affected areas are still tormented by
frequent aftershocks and the risk of inundation. SEGL,
ESEL and SHKL have organized fund raising campaigns
to motivate staff donating money for Sichuan victims.
ESEL has raised over HK$110,000 to the survivors and
recovery projects of the people affected by the disaster.
SHKL successfully raised HK$129,800 from the company
and staff donations, part of which came from the company's
dollar-for-dollar match donations. Some of the teams
and individual colleagues even donated their whole sum
of cash awards received from the Recognition Award Scheme.
SEGL staff also donated a total of HK$14,100. All these
funds went to Red Cross.
Thank you so much for your donations and every penny
you spent will make a big difference for those affected.

MST stages a
successful trade show in Germany |

|
This year MacroScience Technology GmbH (MST) exhibited
its Computed Tomography X-Ray Inspection Systems at the
Control 2008 exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany.
The Control Show is the Europe’s largest and most successful
exhibition for the quality industry and a showcase for
major product launches, industry news and the latest
in innovation.
|
| We presented our MSX CT300 and MSX CT500
3D X-Ray inspection systems at this year’s event. Our
new MSX CT500 was definitely the highlight of the show.
This machine is designed to handle the inspection of larger
test objects than its predecessor, the MSX CT300. The
“big brother” model excels through its higher X-Ray power
and significantly increased accuracy. In our CT series
we implement the world's fastest reconstruction algorithm
enabling a complete 3-D reconstruction of the sample
online. Our CT-systems are designed for more than just
the inspection of electronic components. As our potential
customers we can name the industries, which manufacture
metal and ceramics components as well as plastic parts,
pharmaceutical, medical and biological products and
devices.
Preparing for the show was certainly hard work but
it was well worth the effort. We had an excellent opportunity
to demonstrate our achievements and to establish contacts
with new potential customers and suppliers as well as
to learn more about our competitors.
Besides, the exhibition was great fun. Our software
supplier invited us to attend a go-kart-event where
our managers had the chance to test their racing skills
against their employees! It was the evening to remember.

 |
“Eat with your family
day” is a nationwide event to promote the parenthood
and interaction among the family. Initiated by Centre
for Fathering (CFF) with support of Singapore National
Employers Federation together with other social
partners, fathers are invited to give their family
a “Father's Treat” on the 23 May. Companies and
employers are also encouraged to release their employees
early on that day so that they can go home to prepare
their personal “Eat with Your Family” dishes for
their family. |
|
| This
is the first year for SESE and MST to join. There
are many ways in supporting the above event. Both
companies chose to release all employees at 5.00pm
with our specially prepared giveaways for individuals.
Each employee has received a box of 4 mini cupcakes
