SEGL to streamline support function
SEGL is taking necessary measures in fighting off the worst ever financial
crisis in the century and in building a sustainable platform that can carry
us through the difficult time. In this light, we have combined the Finance;
HR and Office Administration functions of South East Asia into one big
team managed by Ms. Lo Yang Hong, our financial Controller in
Singapore. In North Asia, we have grouped the support function teams
from different companies (SHKL, ESEL, SEAL) into centralized teams serving
the three companies as a whole, i.e., the Finance function will be
reporting to Mr. Daniel Lin while the HR and OA function will be reporting
to Ms. Becky Ma. With such measures in place, we are able to save
support cost up to 25%.
 Change of SEAL Management
Mr. TY Lim, Managing Director of SEAL will be leaving us by early March
2009. Meanwhile, he will return to Singapore and dedicate his remaining
time to taking care for South East Asia business. A new Steering
Committee, comprising members of Beck Ma, Daniel Lin, Daniel Or, Klaus
Festl, Ringo Chan, Stephen Chau, will therefore exercise a joint leadership
to manage North Asia business for SEAL. Despite the above change,
Daniel Or and Ringo Chan will continue to lead the ETS and SMT in PRC
and Hong Kong. Thanks for the supervisors who are committed to taking
up additional responsibilities.
Fashion Technology division to merge with Competence Centre
The then General Manager in Fashion Technology, Mr. Matthew Man, has
left SHKL on 5 December 2008 and the business will be taken up by
Warwick So, General Manager of Competence Centre and his team in
addition to their existing roles.
A new look of Intranet - Wiki
Not long away you will become a Wikipedian. I think the word
“Wikipedia” is not strange to you when browsing information on websites.
The encyclopedia not only can let you to search scores of information
easily in different languages but allow you to freely share your idea and
edit it. The new intranet template “Wiki” comes with the similar idea that
everyone can get access to the intranet and make your own contribution
in building up this website. It also contains a number of micro pages for
different companies/ divisions to customize their own page for their
specific needs. This Wiki site will make intranet a collaborative platform
between divisions and build a closer-knitted community through improved
communication. We encourage all of you to get engaged in our new
WiKi. Training classes will be given for individual divisions and the WiKi site
will be officially launched by 19 February 2009.
